Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night shifts, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 guaranteed hours), with weekend and holiday rotation, plus call and standby requirements

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $63.00 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Attend deliveries and provide immediate newborn assessment and stabilization
• Deliver compassionate couplet care to postpartum mothers and their babies, up to a 1:3 ratio per AWHONN standards
• Monitor and care for Level II NICU babies with diagnoses such as TTN, RDS, feeder growers, hyperbilirubinemia and hypoglycemia
• Manage general fluids including TPN and dextrose, with transfer support to tertiary care when needed
• Operate and monitor vents, BCPAP and HHFNC equipment with confidence
• Collaborate with NNPs available 24/7 and neonatology via telehealth
• Float as helping hands to other departments and the family birth center with a patient assignment when needed
• Take on charge duties with an assignment as part of the team rotation

Qualifications

• Active RN license with the ability to work in Colorado (compact license welcome)
• At least 2 years of NICU experience
• BLS (AHA) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• STABLE certification
• Must live beyond the 60-mile radius and be able to submit a driver's license for verification
• Able to be in state for the week of orientation, even if the first day modules are remote
• Comfortable attending deliveries and caring for postpartum mothers alongside their newborns

Education

• Common diagnoses/Types of patients TTN/RDS/ feeder growers/Hyperbili/Hyphoglycemia. Will attend deliveries
• Experience or 'Must have' skills They would be required to take a postpartum mom and her baby as a couplet assignment up to a 1:3 ratio per AWHONN standards.
• Are RNs required to titrate drips? Level II NICU there are not many drips to titrate. Outside of general fluids like TPN or dextrose those babies would transport to a tertiary hospital even if we started them.

• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes-charge takes an assignment.
• Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios There are nurse aides as part of the LDRP.
• Neonatologist in house 24/7? NNPs available 24/7 and neonatology available via telehealth.
• RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, Bi Pap, etc) Vents/BCPAP/HHFNC equipment available.
• Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? No Tele Techs
• Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 6p-630a, block depending on open needs
• Weekend Requirements . They split it on a 6 week schedule block. I have some weekend warriors who pick up more than most. But typically it equates to like 4 shifts Friday-Sunday count as weekends on nights in a 6 week period. Sometimes less.
• Holiday Requirements Yes to weekend and holiday requirements.
• Is there call or a standby requirement? There is call and standby requirements at this hospital. My unit takes turns by hours unless they request to be standby. My staff take one mandatory call shift every 12 weeks.
• Floating Requirements Hospital by policy requires floating as helping hands to other departments. The family birth center required the level II NICU to float to MI with a patient assignment.
• Scrub Color/Dress Code Any professional colors
• Unit/Departments specific orientation Yes-we will provide what is required per travel agency contract. 1-2 shifts

• Team-first communication in a collaborative birth center
• Flexibility to float and support other departments
